Health is a key theme across 122 diverse research projects enabled since 2005 by the Joint Fund for Poverty Alleviation Research and funded through the UK Department for International Development (DFID), and Economic Social Research Council (ESRC). The Impact Initiative is pleased to present open access to a permanent platform of all those projects and the resulting health related knowledge in the OpenDocs repository.

In an attempt to summarise the learning and synergies, new synthesis reports have been written that take a view across the 122 projects and offer valuable insights and rich sources of information intended to be of interest to a broad audience. The full report, the Health Evidence Synthesis Review Award (ESRA), (Venkatapuram., S.Coutts, A., and Mall, P., 2016) and a summary of the review, highlight the specific contributions of Joint Fund research to new knowledge about health in development issues, to methods and approaches to researching these, and to supporting social and economic impact. Both the health research full synthesis and summary reports are available to download.

Together these resources create a world leading wealth of contemporary open knowledge on inequality. Some of these key issues faced in health today are captured in this snapshot, the Key Issues Guide on Inequality in Access to Health Services, presented in partnership with Eldis.
